GEORGIA ANN MORGAN

Georgia Ann Morgan, 78, of Williamsburg, passed peacefully on Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2016.

She was born in Berea, Kentucky, and was a graduate of Stanford High School and St. Catharine College in Springfield, Kentucky.

Georgia and husband Donald raised their family in Moon, Virginia in Mathews County. She taught in the Mathews County Public Schools and was an active member and church organist for Salem United Methodist Church. After moving to Williamsburg she was involved in the ministries and Christian education at Wellspring United Methodist Church and worked at Fabrics Unique. Georgia was a creative and talented woman— cook, baker, canner, seamstress, and decorator—who delighted in sharing her gifts with her church, children and grandchildren.

Georgia was predeceased by her parents, Lewis Gooch and Sarah Edith Crumbaker Gooch of Stanford, Kentucky; her husband of 56 years, Donald Banks Morgan of Moon and Williamsburg, and her daughter, Donnie Ann Morgan of Moon.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Christopher Morgan (Kathleen) of Toano, Virginia, and Steven Morgan (Doreen) of Roswell, Georgia; her beloved grandchildren, Philip, Rachel, Vivian, Gabriel, and Ezabella; her brother, William M. Gooch of Elizabethtown, Kentucky, and son-in-law, C. Michael Gambone of Moon.

The family will receive friends Friday, Dec. 2 from 6-8 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Road, Williamsburg, Va. 23188.

On Saturday, Dec. 3, a visitation will be held at noon at Foster-Faulkner Funeral Home, 160 Main Street, Mathews, Va. 23109, followed by a 1 o’clock celebration of life service for both Georgia and her daughter, Donnie. A brief graveside service for Georgia will take place at Milford Cemetery in Moon. Following the burial, family and friends are welcome at Salem United Methodist Church, Diggs, for a reception.

The family would like to thank the staff of Dominion Village of Williamsburg for their compassionate care.
