A funeral for George Calvin Jones, 71 of Gloucester, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 11 in New Mount Zion Baptist Church, Woods Cross Roads. He died Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2017.

He was a native of Gloucester County and chairman of the Deacons Ministry of New Mount Zion Baptist Church and owner of G and S Repair Service.

He was preceded in death by his parents, the Rev. Nathaniel T. Jones Sr. and Carrie Reid Jones; daughters, Malinda, Tonet, and Gail, and brother, Nathaniel Jr.

Survivors include his wife, Darah Jones; daughters, Carla Ruffin of Gloucester and Patricia Jones of Newport News; stepdaughter, Shantelle Jackson of Newport News; stepson, Adrian Zachary of Gloucester; brothers, John Jones of Greensboro, North Carolina and David Jones of Jackson, Mississippi; sisters, Marion Carter of Gloucester, Hattie Reed of Compton, California, Edith Wilson of New Rochelle, New York, Erma Harmon of Rahway, New Jersey, and Theresa Jones of Mechanicsville; 13 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

A viewing will be held from 6-8 p.m. Friday in New Mount Zion Baptist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
