Genova Sparkman Waddles, 93, of Hayes, passed away Feb. 25, 2012 at her home.

A native of Knott County, Ky., she was a homemaker and a member of Providence Baptist Church. She enjoyed cooking and being with family. Genova enjoyed life to the fullest and her love for family and friends made her so special.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Annie Sparkman; her beloved husband, Lloyd G. Waddles; daughter, Ruby Merritt; sons-in-law, Thomas G. Merritt and Thomas J. Hogge; grandson, Barry T. Hogge; six sisters, and a brother.

She is survived by sons, Jackie Waddles and wife Linda, Danny Waddles and wife Susan, Jimmy Waddles and wife Emogene; daughter, Anna W. Hogge; sisters, Norsie Conley, June Monfalcone, Freda Hiler; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services conducted by the Rev. Dr. Richard Croxton and the Rev. Dr. Thomas Gaskins were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 29, 2012, at Providence Baptist Church, with interment to follow in Peninsula Memorial Park Cemetery. The family received friends on Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2012, from 7-8 p.m. at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point.
