GENEVA MCPHERSON LANE

Geneva McPherson Lane, 86, a native and lifelong resident of Poquoson, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2015.

She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Poquoson; volunteered at the Parish Thrift Shop in Poquoson for many years, and enjoyed raising prize-winning roses in her garden.

Genny was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Judson “Jud” Lane, and was the last living of the eight McPherson children.

She is survived by two sons, Tommy Lane and wife Joanne of Yorktown, and Jeff Lane and wife Donna of Gloucester; four grandchildren, Deenie Lane of Norfolk, Thomas Lane and wife Helen of Newport News, Megan Toben and husband Tim of Chapel Hill, N.C., and Evan Lane and fiancée Rebecca Downs of Durham, N.C., and great-grandchildren, Kaia and Ezra.

“Genny was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and adored all her many nieces and nephews.”

The family will receive friends Friday, Aug. 7, 2015 from 10-11 a.m., at Trinity United Methodist Church, immediately followed by a celebration of Genny’s life at 11 o’clock in the church sanctuary by the Rev. Carol Bookwalter. A reception will follow in the church fellowship hall. Interment will be at 2 p.m. at Parklawn Memorial Park, Hampton.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, 1294 Poquoson Ave., Poquoson, Va. 23662.
