Mathews High School graduate Jack Perry was recipient of this year’s General Excellence Award, the highest honor given to a graduating senior. The award is given to the student who best exemplifies high academic achievement, extracurricular involvement, leadership, citizenship and a cooperative attitude, according to MHS principal Alexis Foster. MHS held its drive-up graduation ceremony on June 7. Perry will attend Christopher Newport University in the fall, where he is considering a career in education.
