GENE MAXWELL HUDGINS

Gene Maxwell Hudgins passed away on August 14, 2018. He was born and raised in Mathews County where he lived most of his life. He moved to Middlesex County where he spent his last year. He was predeceased in death by his parents Capt. Grover Maxwell Hudgins and Virginia Hudgins. Gene loved his family. He was Captain for Haynie Menhaden Fishery Industry for 20 years. He loved hunting and won many trophies with his dogs. He also crabbed and fished on his boat. He worked for Industrial Resource Technology for 15 years from which he retired. Eight years he lived with Alzheimer’s until it finally took his life. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, June Hudgins; sons, Tony Hudgins (Loretta), Chris Hudgins (Anita); a daughter, Sheree Lawson; sisters, Ann Forrest (Richard) and Nancy Lewis (Sammy); brothers, J. C. Hudgins and Dicky Hudgins (Danny); grandchildren, Nicole, Melissa and Lance; a great-grandchild Lily and many nieces and nephews. Special thanks to hospice for their wonderful help, also Barbie, Sue and many friends. The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 16, 2018 from 10-11 a.m. at Faulkner Funeral Homes, Foster-Faulkner Chapel, Mathews, Va. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with burial to follow at H. C. Smither Cemetery, Hudgins, Va. Donations may be made to Alzheimer’s or to Central United Methodist Church, Mathews, Va.
