GCPS raises $7,000+ in United Way campaign

Gloucester County Public Schools raised a total of $7,168 through its combined United Way and GCPS Educational Foundation campaign that was recently completed, down slightly from the $7,258 raised last year. The goal was $10,000. 

Of the total amount, $1,718 was raised in the foundation’s campaign through payroll deductions and other contributions, with 12 school division employees and one special school fundraiser contributing to the total. The foundation received an additional $298 through United Way giving, for a total contribution of $2,016. 

The GCPS Educational Foundation also benefits from an annual 5K race fundraiser. The foundation provides mini-grants for GCPS teachers and sponsors the annual teachers of the year recognition dinner.

The United Way campaign raised a total of $5,450, with 37 school division employees contributing. Of that amount, $1,650 was designated for the United Way of the Virginia Peninsula, which divides giving into the four categories ...
