GCPS earns top ranking in region for academic performance

The Virginia Department of Education has released student passing rates for the 2024-2025 school year. For the first time since records have been available, Gloucester County Public Schools has earned the number one ranking in Region 3 for overall academic performance.
At the state level, Gloucester students also earned multiple top ten rankings. These include second in Grade 5 Math, fifth in Math for African American Students, sixth in Grade 4 Math, sixth in Writing for African American Students, seventh in Grade 4 Math, seventh in Math for Students with Disabilities, eighth Overall in Math, eighth in Grade 5 Science, eighth in Writing for Disadvantaged Students, and eighth in Math for Disadvantaged Students.
In addition to these academic gains, results from the 2025 Virginia School Survey of Climate and Working Conditions show that Gloucester teachers and students describe their schools as more positive and supportive than both regional and state averages. The survey was administered...
