Gary Roscoe Lanier, 61, of North, Va., earned his angel wings on Dec. 8, 2015.

Gary was the fourth of six children born to H.G. and Lila Lanier.

He is survived by his mom, Lila Creasey; sisters, Betty Harold, Vicky Lanier and Judy Barbarian; brother, Robert Lanier; stepsisters, Carolyn Clowers, Ellen Poe and Kathy Roddenberry.

He was predeceased by his dad, H.G. Lanier, and sister, Shelby Spain.

Gary was a longtime employee of Western Electric. He always had something nice to say and a smile to go with it. He was a gentle, loving and compassionate man who loved life and was loved by all who knew him. 

Gary’s favorite things to do were fishing or lending a helping hand.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Tucker’s Recreational Park, 244 Barn Road, Shacklefords, Va., on May 21, 2016, at 1 p.m. (Gary’s birthday).
