Garton resigns

Gloucester County Administrator Brenda Garton resigned her position during Tuesday night’s Gloucester County Board of Supervisors meeting in the colonial courthouse. Her resignation is effective April 30, which will come exactly two weeks after the county’s fiscal year 2015-16 budget is expected to be adopted.

Garton said Wednesday morning she was not at liberty to discuss the details of her resignation, but said she will be accepting another position.

The board of supervisors added a closed session to the end of its meeting Tuesday night. When the resolution was read by county attorney Ted Wilmot for the board to enter into a closed meeting, he said it was for the purpose of discussing personnel matters, related to the county administrator. However, when the board reconvened in open session, no action was taken on the matter.
