Garton leaves; interim replacement due May 5

As Gloucester County Administrator Brenda Garton said her goodbyes during her last meeting with the county’s board of supervisors Tuesday night, board chairman Ashley Chriscoe said an interim county administrator will likely be appointed during the board’s May 5 meeting.

“We’re just working on a few things like dotting our I’s and crossing our T’s,” Chriscoe said. “Unless something unforeseen happens, (the May 5 meeting) would be my best guess.”

There will be a gap of several days between when Garton leaves on April 30 and when the new interim is appointed. During that time, the board appointed Garrey Curry, assistant county administrator for community development, to act as clerk of the board. Chriscoe was appointed as the acting emergency management director to serve throughout the transition process until the county hires a permanent county administrator.
