A funeral service for Garland B. Smith of Mathews, was held at 1 p.m. Tuesday in First Baptist Church, Mathews. He died Thursday, March 3, 2016.

He was predeceased by his daughter, Priscilla.

Survivors include his wife, Florine Smith; children, Michael Smith, Patricia Smith, Garland Smith, Mitchell Smith and Carmena Waters; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren.

Burial was in the church cemetery.

Forrest Brothers Funeral Home, Hudgins, was in charge of arrangements.
