Gardening questions

Before the pandemic, Gloucester Extension Master Gardeners were available at the library at Main Street Center every Tuesday, manning the Horticultural Desk to answer questions and help residents solve gardening problems. On Thursdays, Master Gardeners answered the phone at the Gloucester Extension office. We made home visits to inspect for and diagnose home gardening problems, and we educated people on the safe use of pesticides and fertilizers.

COVID-19 changed the way Master Gardeners interacted with the citizens of Gloucester County, but it didn’t dampen our desire to offer assistance. Like my fellow Master Gardeners over the last two years, I received gardening questions weekly by email, text, and Facebook. The Horticultural Desk at the library has been re-established and the Extension office takes calls that are relayed to us, but we continue to receive messages through other media.
