Garden Club decks the halls for holiday

The Beautification Committee of the Garden Club of Gloucester and Mathews assembled and donated 11 live wreaths for the Gloucester Court House historic buildings, and hung 225 linear feet of fresh pine roping on the History Museum façade on Main Street, Gloucester.
Robert Kelly, Museums Coordinator for Gloucester County, worked with the club, providing a space to create the wreaths. All fresh greenery was used, with “period-appropriate” decorations such as dried fruit, berries, nuts, feathers and oyster shells.
Additionally, the Garden Club prepared and hung nine fresh wreaths for the historic district in Mathews County.
“This year, we had additional requests for live wreaths and decorations from both Gloucester and Mathews counties. We so appreciate the counties’ support and enthusiasm,” said Beautification Committee chair Vicki Dreelin.
