G-M Farm Bureau scholarships

The Gloucester-Mathews Farm Bureau Board of Directors recently awarded seven scholarships to local students, totaling $7,000. Presentations were made before the membership at the Annual Producer Dinner Meeting held on Aug.

3 at Petsworth Baptist Church. Recipients were: Daniel Hook of Gloucester, who will be studying engineering at Virginia Tech as a sophomore; Jessie Mills of Mathews, who will study biomedical science at Mary Washington University as a sophomore; Alexandra Mills of Mathews, who will study psychology at Mary Washington University as a sophomore; Brooke Billhimer of Gloucester, who will be studying criminology and sociology at Christopher Newport University as a freshman; Shayla Wheeler of Mathews, who will study kinesiology at Longwood University as a junior; Brittney Hardee of Hayes, who will be studying kinesiology at Longwood University as a junior; and Christine Young of Gloucester is seeking a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Capella University.
