Funding approved for three Gloucester road improvements

The Commonwealth Transportation Board approved three road improvement projects in Gloucester County for funding last week as part of the Six-Year Improvement Program for fiscal years 2017-2022.

Gloucester County had submitted four projects for House Bill 2 funding, with three of the four approved, said Kelly Hannon, a spokesperson for the Virginia Department of Transportation. The projects were all scored, she said, with three other projects elsewhere in the Fredericksburg District also not approved for funding.

The three projects in Gloucester recommended to receive funding are:

—Intersection improvements at Route 17 Business/Route 14/Route 3, $1.5 million;

—Pedestrian improvements at Route 17/Route 17 Business northern intersection, $950,000, and
