Free meals for youth available this summer in Mathews

The Mathews Family YMCA, with support from the Mathews Community Foundation and Treakle Foundation, is offering its free summer meals for children and teens from now through July 29, according to branch director Sheila Pillath.

Breakfast and lunch are served Monday through Friday at the Thomas Hunter/Lee-Jackson cafeteria. The program is offered free to boys and girls ages 18 and under; there is no application or proof of income needed, and no registration is necessary.

Breakfast is served from 8-8:30 a.m. and lunch is served from noon-12:30 p.m. Healthy meals based on USDA nutrition guidelines are being served.
