Free classes offered for first-time home-buyers

Free classes to help prospective first-time home-buyers navigate the buying process and prepare for homeownership, are being offered in Hampton Roads in the coming months.

The course, developed by the Virginia Housing Development Authority, teaches the key steps to home-buying. Industry experts—such as housing counselors, real estate agents, lenders, home inspectors, and closing agents—volunteer their time and share their knowledge to make you a more informed buyer.

The class covers personal finances and credit, loan types, the loan process, working with a real estate agent, the home inspection, the closing process and more.

Among the classes being offered are two each at the Langley Village Community Center and Consumer Credit Counseling Service of Hampton Roads, both in Hampton, and one class at the Fleet and Family Support Center, Naval Weapons Station, Yorktown.
