FREDDIE E. CARTER

Freddie E. Carter, 76, of Gloucester, went home to the Lord on March 13, 2017, following a lengthy illness.

Freddie was a loving husband and father who loved attending auctions, refurbishing antiques, and gunsmithing. He could fix anything no matter how intricate. He loved his dogs and living on the water. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie F. Carter Sr. and Fay Wilson Carter.

He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Elizabeth Shook Carter; two sisters, Patricia Via (Louis) and Nancy Turner (Jeff); one brother, Charlie F. Carter Jr. (Monetti); two sons, Fred E. Carter Jr. (Donna), and CMDCM Jonathon M. Carter (Marie); one daughter, Tina Marie Carter; one stepson, Michael A. Elliott (Monique); three grandchildren, Christopher, Summer, and Brittany; two step-grandchildren, Dylan and Nora, and two great-grandchildren, Robbie and Nevaeh. 

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, March 18, at 11 a.m. at Bellamy United Methodist Church, 4870 Chestnut Fork Road, Gloucester. There will be fellowship and food following the service.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Bellamy United Methodist Church or Gloucester- Mathews Humane Society.
