A funeral for Fred Douglas Grimes, 77, of Newport News, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in New Beech Grove Baptist Church, Newport News. He died Oct. 13, 2017.

He was a member of the Gloucester All Stars men’s baseball team. 

He was employed by Broaddus and Hall furniture store, Pepsi-Cola Bottling Company, and worked on Fort Eustis military base. 

He was a deacon at Malachi House Life Center Church, Newport News.

Survivors include two daughters, Denise Gonzales and Beatrice Young; two brothers, Donald Grimes and Thomas Grimes, and five grandchildren.
