FRANK LEE EDMUNDS III

On Tuesday, March 16, 2021, Frank Lee Edmunds III of Florida, loving husband and father, passed away at the age of 67.

Lee was born on Aug. 17, 1953 in Portsmouth, Virginia, to Frank Lee Edmunds Jr. and Jessica. He graduated from the Newport News Shipbuilding Apprentice program in 1977, and began his career in hoisting and rigging. He obtained various degrees while working, culminating in a master’s in human resource management from Saint Leo University. He retired from the Shipyard in 2015, where he was recognized as a master shipbuilder after 42 years of service.

He married Trudy Edmunds, his wife of 37 years. They raised two daughters, Donata and Jessica, and a son, Frank Lee IV. He lived in Gloucester County for 30 years and was a pillar of the youth sports community in Gloucester, coaching more teams than can be listed and was an integral part of building and growing the wrestling program.

Lee had a passion for sports and poker. He could make you laugh, make and win a wager against you, and give sage advice all within the first hour of meeting you. He was an avid music lover and had a story to tell for any occasion. He was known for being a family man, brightening any room he was in, and his willingness to help anyone.

Lee was preceded in death by his father, Frank, and his mother, Jessica. He is survived by his wife Trudy; his three children, Donata, Jessica, Frank; his sisters, Anne, Lynn, Debbie, and Barbara.
