Francis “Gary” Holmberg, 77, died Sunday, March 29, 2020 in Carroll County, Maryland, of COVID-19.
Survivors include his two children, Tracy Shavell of Frederick, Maryland, and Robert Holmberg of Mechanicsville, Maryland, and four grandchildren.

He was born on July 14, 1942 to Regis and Ethel Holmberg in southeast Washington, D.C.
After graduating from Anacostia High School, he joined the D.C. National Guard. He was appointed on Jan. 16, 1966 to Truck 10 and retired on Oct. 10, 1988 from Engine 15 as a Captain for the Washington, D.C., fire department.
