FRANCES OLIVER BORDEN

Frances Oliver Borden, 79, of Hayes, passed away Friday, July 10, 2015, at Heron Cove, Gloucester.

Frances was an active member of Beech Grove Baptist Church. Frances was one of the first employees of Peoples Bank. She was later employed at the Naval Weapons Station and retired after 15 years of service. Her long list of activities included working tirelessly for her church, past president of the Abingdon Woman’s Club, the Gloucester County Historical Society, the Gloucester Woman’s Club and The King’s Daughters. She maintained a sweet and simple demeanor that won the trust and hearts of many. Her signature gift of joy shone through her constant smile, and her nurturing love and faith will never be forgotten.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin F. and Hattie Dunston Oliver; an infant son; brother, John F. Oliver; and nephews, Charles Oliver and John B. Oliver.

She leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 58 years, Benjamin E. Borden Jr.; son, Benjamin E. Borden III; nieces, Sylvia Rowe and husband Linwood, Jean Louk and husband Jack, and Crystal Dowell; and nephew, Granville Lee Oliver and wife Jean.

A celebration of her life conducted by the Rev. Bob Robbins and the Rev. Clarence Hilling will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 16, 2015, at Providence Baptist Church. Inurnment will be private.
