FRANCES MAHONE BROWN

Frances Mahone Brown, 78, of Gloucester, passed away on Sunday, May 13, 2018, in Hospice House and Support Care of Williamsburg.

She was born in Hampton, and was retired from Bethany United Methodist Church at Gloucester Point where she had been the secretary for 28 years. She was a member of Abingdon Woman’s Club, the Stephen Ministry, and a graduate of Hampton High School. She was a member of Gloucester Point Baptist Church; however, her heart remained at Bethany United Methodist Church, as she made many friends who remained faithful to her and her family.

She spent her last days surrounded by nature listening to the sounds of birds and breathing fresh air at the beautiful Hospice House and Support Care of Williamsburg.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Virginia and Julius Mahone, and is survived by her husband, Robert A. Brown; her children, Sharon Kay West (Billy), Robert Francis Brown (Jill), Michael Wade Brown (Patty), and John Stephen Brown (Jennifer); grandchildren, Jessica, Nicholas, Kayla, Kylie, Lily, Logan, Katlynn, Jacy, Dallam, and Wade, and great-grandchildren, Christian, Mason, and Carter.

The family received friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, May 15, 2018, from 6:30-8 p.m. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, May 16, 2018, at 3 p.m. in Bethany United Methodist Church by the Rev. Arthur Woltz and the Rev. Mike Derflinger. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to either Hospice House and Support Care of Williamsburg, 4445 Powhatan Parkway, Williamsburg, Va. 23188, or to Bethany United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 527, Gloucester Point, Va. 23062.

The family would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the doctors, nurses, and all the wonderful staff of the Hospice House for their excellent and supportive care that Frances and her family received.
