Frances C. Gwyn, 89, of Hampton, Va., passed away July 15, 2013 at The Newport in Newport News, Va.

Born Sept. 4, 1923 in Pinson, Ala., to the late Arthur and Ruby Clements, she was preceded in death by her sister, Martha Flemming; brothers, Bob Clements, Thomas Clements, Walt Clements and Lawson Clements.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Harold F. Gwyn Jr.; daughter, Cindy Rothschild, and son, Harold F. Gwyn III and his wife Terrie.

Frances had been a resident of Hampton since 1940 where she was a graduate of Hampton High School and employed by the City of Hampton School Division. She was a member of Central United Methodist Church and the Friendship Sunday School Class.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 18, 2013, in the R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Hampton, by the Rev. David Lekarczyk with interment to follow in Parklawn Memorial Park, Hampton. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
