The annual Father John Boddie Memorial Golf Classic was held Friday at the Piankatank River Golf Club in Hartfield. Hosted by the Church of The Visitation, Topping, the event concluded the series begun in 2008 to benefit both the church’s building fund and many community-based charitable organizations.

Now that the church has completed its building program, it is dedicating all proceeds from this year’s event to community needs.

Pastor Gerry Kaggwa thanked the golfers for supporting the tournament. Even though inclement weather shortened the competition, the players gathered for clubhouse camaraderie, beverages and dinner, and awarding of prizes.

“While we didn’t have ideal conditions today, our golfers and volunteers showed wonderful spirit throughout as we bid farewell to this tradition in memory of Father Boddie,” tournament director Gary Richardson said.
