Four detained in Gloucester ICE arrest

Agents from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement were seen in Gloucester County on Friday morning taking four people into custody.
According to surveillance video from Horn’s Ace Hardware at Hayes, which was broadcast Friday evening on WAVY TV-10, those arrested had just left the store and were returning to a landscaping truck when they were taken into custody.
ICE spokesperson James Covington confirmed that officers from ICE Norfolk did make arrests in the county on Friday. Lt. Steven H. Perry, chief investigator with the Gloucester County Sheriff’s Office, said that his office did not receive a notification about that operation before the arrests happened.
Covington said that “our officers did notify local law enforcement in Gloucester County upon their arrival at 8:01 a.m. and upon their departure at 8:58 a.m.”
Covington did not provide any additional information about those detained or any other details by press time.
