Founder’s Day to be held Monday at THMS

For next week’s fifth annual Thomas Hunter Middle School Founder’s Day, event organizers are returning full circle to honor the school’s namesake.

An annual celebration of the school’s past, present and future, Founder’s Day will begin at 7 p.m. Monday in the school’s Brooks Auditorium.

Past years have recognized the school’s longtime principal J. Murray Brooks (which included the dedication of the auditorium in his honor), a celebration of music (with retired music teachers Rosalind Knight and David Shuber being honored that night) and last year’s program, “Welcome to Our House,” which shined a spotlight on the accomplishments of the current crop of middle schoolers.

But for Monday’s fifth annual Founder’s Day, assistant principal Amy Hauser plans to return to the theme of the inaugural program, which was held in 2014—“A Celebration of Thomas Hunter and Thomas Hunter School.”
