Foster promoted to COO of Chesapeake

Rebecca Andrick Foster, Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Chesapeake Financial Shares, Inc., has been promoted to Chief Operating Officer, a role she will jointly hold with her current CFO title.

The announcement was made Monday by Jeffery M. Szyperski, Chairman of the Board and CEO of CFS, Inc. (parent company of both Chesapeake Bank and Chesapeake Wealth Management).

Foster has been with Chesapeake for 27 years and has held previous positions including Internal Auditor, Money Desk Manager and Investment Officer as well as Assistant Corporate Secretary. In 2014, she was promoted to Chief Financial Officer. Chesapeake Bank has made American Banker magazine’s listing of the “Top 200 Community Banks” in the nation based on earnings for the past 15 consecutive years, eight of which have been while Foster has been CFO.

“Becky has been integrally involved in all facets of Chesapeake for a number of years and has done an incredible job,” Szyperski said. “She is perfectly suited for this significant addition to her responsibilities.” Foster is a graduate of Christopher Newport University, the Virginia School of Bank Management in Charlottesville, as well as the Graduate School of Banking at Louisiana State University.

Active in community life, Foster has served on the Northern Neck Family YMCA board since 2017 and is currently vice chair. She has served as chair of the Y’s Festival of Trees for the past two years. Additionally, Foster currently serves as vice chair of the Upper Advisory Council of the YMCA of the Virginia Peninsulas. She has also served on the Rappahannock Westminster-Canterbury board since 2017 and is currently Finance Committee chair.

Foster currently resides in Hardyville with her husband Raye, and they have one daughter, Abigail.
