The Nov. 7 General Election will produce crowded ballots in both Gloucester and Mathews counties. Frequently civic groups sponsor forums where candidates can discuss their platforms.

We are asking these groups to let us know when and where the forums will be held. Please call 804-693-3101, or email editor@gazettejournal.net.

We will list the forums weekly until they are complete. So far, we have received notice of the following:

Gloucester County

Monday, Sept. 18, Shepherdsville Baptist Church and the Gloucester Union Relief Association of Missionary Baptist will host a Meet and Greet with Gloucester School Board candidates at 6 p.m. at Shepherdsville Church, 87829 Fary’s Mill Road, Gloucester.

Mathews County

Wednesday, Sept. 13, Mathews PATH, 6-8 p.m. at Cobbs Creek Art Center, candidates for board of supervisors.

Thursday, Sept. 14, Gwynn’s Island Civic League, 7-9 p.m. at the Gwynn’s Island Civic Center, candidates for the board of supervisors and sheriff.
