Former GHS standout to be inducted in CNU Hall of Fame

Former Gloucester resident Sherwin Green is one of four new members to be inducted into the Christopher Newport University Athletic Hall of Fame next month.

Green, a basketball standout at CNU, joins former football players Rob Rodriguez and Roland Hilliard along with longtime assistant track and field coach Louis Johnson as the 2013 inductees. The induction ceremonies will be held during halftime of the CNU/Greensboro men’s basketball game, which will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 2, at the Freeman Center.

 

Green, a 1972 graduate of Gloucester High School, was an early standout in the CNU men’s basketball program and led the Captains from 1972 to 1975. According to CNU, he was the school’s second player to earn all-conference honors twice in his career and was the third all-time leading scorer in program history when he graduated.
