Two letters appeared in the Oct. 27 edition of the Gazette-Journal that referenced Lorraine Forrest’s decision not to participate in the town hall meeting sponsored by the Mathews Republican Committee.

For the record, Lorraine issued the following statement on Oct. 23:

“A Message to Mathews Voters: Lorraine Forrest declined to participate in the Town Hall sponsored by the Mathews County Republican Committee on October 24 when she realized it was purely a political event sponsored by a partisan organization that had already endorsed her opponent, Mari Gibbs. Ms. Forrest is willing to participate in any candidates forum that is sponsored by a non-partisan civic organization.”
