Food Lion donates $2,000 to Hands Across Mathews

Hands Across Mathews recently received $2,000 from the Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation. The organization will use the gift to help local families who have unfilled needs because of low income, illness, loss of a job, or unexpected expenses, said a press release.

The grant will be used for the Hands Across Mathews Food Distribution Program, which serves the needy of Mathews County who cannot provide their families with an adequate supply of food, said the release. The group’s clients include elderly couples who cannot make ends meet on Social Security payments, families struggling to provide their children with nutritious meals, veterans, and single parents trying to raise their children who have to decide which bills to pay.
