Food drive

Throughout November, the combined FCCLA groups at Thomas Hunter Middle School and Mathews High School held a food drive. Students collected and donated eight large boxes of non-perishable foods for Hands Across Mathews, as well as items to fill 100 breakfast bags for the Helping the Homeless Ministry. They plan to continue the breakfast bag collection for the remainder of the school year with a goal of 500 bags. Their project is part of a FCCLA STAR Event that supports the FCCLA National Program: Explore, Act, Tell. Students and families and parishioners of Emmaus Baptist Church, North, all contributed to the effort.
