Next door to North Post Office on Route 14 in Mathews is North Star Market, a convenience store open seven days a week. This business not only makes it convenient for purchasing necessities, such as gasoline, a few groceries, beverages and other small items, there is also the deli where you find your meals all prepared and served by Deirdra Lockley four days a week.

Deirdra’s day begins at 6 a.m. and she remains in the deli until 3 p.m. By then the menu, which covers breakfast and lunch, has just about been depleted especially the fried chicken, the best of the best. However, Deirdra finds enough leftovers to see that she and staff have a late lunch.
