Flow Art workshops begin Jan. 7

Arts on Main will host a series of Flow Art workshops beginning with “Introduction to Flow Art” from 6:30-8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 7, at its Gloucester Main Street studio.

Also known as fluid art or acrylic pouring, flow art is a fun, creative way to make abstract art.

Each workshop will be led by artist Patrizia Giovanna Smith, who lives in Gloucester Court House. Smith graduated from the College of William and Mary with a bachelor’s degree in fine arts and a master’s in art psychotherapy at Eastern Virginia Medical School.

Workshop participants will learn a variety of techniques for creating flow artworks on canvas using fluid acrylics, including “Flip & Drag” on Jan. 14, “Tree Ring Pour” on Jan. 21, and “Swipe” on Jan. 28.

Finished work will be given 24 hours to cure at Arts on Main prior to taking it home, but students will leave each workshop with a finished piece. The cost for each workshop is $25 and requires...
