Floating restaurant now at North marina

The Barnacle, a 40-foot floating concession stand, is open for business at Mobjack Bay Marina in North, and it could soon be seen at other locations around Mathews County, as well.

The menu includes everything from a full breakfast of homemade biscuits and gravy, bacon and eggs, pancakes and fried apples to weekly lunch specials featuring smoked pulled pork with homemade cole slaw, homemade crab cakes or sautéed shrimp, said owner Bambi Parker of Susan. She even plans to offer mussels, clams and other fresh seafood as available.

Parker said she had always wanted a restaurant on the water, and this new venture comes as close to the water as any restaurant could. Customers can come alongside and buy their food from a drive-through window without ever having to leave their own vessel. While the concession stand is docked, walk-up customers can be accommodated.
