Flapjack fundraiser raises $2,400 for CHKD

The Abingdon Ruritan Club hosted a community flapjack breakfast on June 25 at Applebee’s, raising $2,400 for the Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters.

The serving crew consisted of 26 club members and four other volunteers.

Applebee’s lets nonprofits host breakfast fundraisers on a Saturday or Sunday morning. The Gloucester restaurant supplies all the food, plates, utensils, the cook, a manager and the nonprofit supplies all the manpower such as platers, hostesses, greeters, food servers, drink servers, bussers, table cleaners and dishwashers along with clean up after the event.
