Flags for Heroes

The Mathews Rotary Club unfurled a field of 170 flags on Main Street Monday to honor veterans both before and after Veterans Day, which is on Wednesday, Nov. 11. The Flags for Heroes project provided community members an opportunity to dedicate one of the flags to honor a hero in their life, whether a veteran, military, first responder, health care worker, teacher, family member or friend. Each flag includes a four-inch medallion with the names of the sponsor and their hero. After the event, the sponsor will receive the medallion and a certificate of appreciation. Proceeds benefit Mathews Rotary Club community projects.
