Five wetlands projects win unanimous approval

The Gloucester County Wetlands Board unanimously approved five shoreline improvement applications during a meeting held Nov. 9 in the colonial courthouse.

Dominion Virginia Power was given authorization to relocate an electric power line temporarily for a Virginia Department of Transportation project to work on the Wilson Creek bridge at Cunningham Lane.

That project was approved with condition that a $1,000 bond be posted for the purpose of assurance of re-establishing marsh from any damage that may be created during bridge work there, said Linda Walthall, administrative coordinator for Gloucester’s Environmental Programs.

 On a separate project, George Zahn received the go-ahead for the construction of a 48-linear-foot stone sill, 8-foot-stone spur and 100 cubic yards of sand nourishment adjacent to property situated along the Ware River at 5604 Roane’s Wharf Road.
