Fitness classes for seniors begin in January

It’s time to make your New Year’s Resolutions.

The next six-week session of Gentle Yoga (designed for those aged 55 and older) will begin on Jan. 2 at Gloucester’s Botetourt Elementary School.

The Gloucester Parks, Recreation and Tourism class will begin at 5:30 Thursdays and the fee is $30 per session. The deadline to register is Dec. 26.

Two other “Working on Wellness” fitness programs for seniors also start next month. “Body Renew” combines mild cardio, gentle stretching, resistance strength training and balance retention. Classes will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesdays at the PRT office, 6382 Main Street. The fee is $30 for January (7, 14, 21, 28); the deadline to register is Dec. 30.

“Gentle Arthritis Movements” is designed to help seniors suffering from arthritis to retain their range of motion through a series of gentle, mindful movements, from head to toe, fostering joint mobility and flexibility. Classes will be held at 5:3...
