Fishing slow at Beaverdam

Fishing continues to be slow but the Beaverdam Reservoir is still producing fish despite the cooler temperatures and few anglers testing their luck.

Parks supervisor Randy Drake said a pair of youngsters, one using a chatterbait and the other a plastic worm, landed two nice size largemouth bass recently while fishing from shore.

Another angler used liver shiners to reel in yellow perch, one of which was nearly large enough for a citation.

Annual boat passes for jon boat, canoe and kayak launching are now available at the ranger station. Beaverdam Park is open from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. for January. For more information call the park at 804-693-2107.  ...
