Fishing picking up at Beaverdam

Fishing has started picking up again in Gloucester’s Beaverdam Park reservoir. Last week, one fisherman caught two stringers of fish including catfish, black crappie, largemouth bass and white perch.

One of the crappie was a citation-winning 17 inches long and weighed two and a half pounds. Also last week, another angler caught a citation length chain pickerel.

Beaverdam is open daily from 7 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. through October and is back to renting watercraft and selling bait and concessions. For more information call the Ranger Station at 804-693-2107.
