Fish fry Saturday in Gloucester to benefit GUEST program

Morning Glory Baptist Church, Woods Cross Roads, is sponsoring a fish fry from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, with proceeds benefitting the GUEST program. The event will be held on the lawn of Gloucester Library, Main Street Center.
Divine Dining, LLC, a ministry of Morning Glory, is catering the event. As an alternative to fish, chicken will be available.

The meal includes two sides, dessert and a drink. The cost is $17 for one meal and $30 for two meals. Payment can be made with cash or credit card.

“Morning Glory Baptist Church has been a faithful supporter of GUEST,” said Linda Hodges, chair of the GUEST board of directors. “The proceeds from this event will be used to ‘jump start’ our capital fund, which was just established last week at our monthly board meeting.”

GUEST, the Gloucester United Emergency Shelter Team, was founded by a coalition of church congregations in 2014 in response to the growing number of people who were experiencing homelessness in the community. GUEST serves Gloucester and Mathews, as well as the additional counties of the Middle Peninsula and Northern Neck.

Its board of directors meets on the second Tuesday of each month in the Conference Room at the Gloucester Mathews Care Clinic. Michelle Wells, MSW, is the GUEST executive director.
