Fish being caught from pier at Beaverdam

Several fish have been caught from the pier at the Beaverdam Park Reservoir recently, according to park ranger Elizabeth Keefer.

One angler, she said, caught a few black crappie as well as a chain pickerel from the pier using a White Curly Tail Jig. Other fish hooked at the pier recently include white perch and bluegill. Crappie, largemouth bass and sunfish have been caught from boats over the past couple of weeks using both live and artificial bait. On Sunday, May 22, there was a three-pound, 12-ounce bass caught from the pier using an artificial worm.

Beaverdam Park is open daily from 6 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. through Labor Day. The park rents watercraft, selling bait and concessions. For more information, call the Ranger Station at 804-693-2107.
