FirstSpark, formerly Smart Beginnings Virginia Peninsula, has announced a new partnership with StepAhead to implement SMS short-message text messaging services to communicate with families with young children in Ready Region Chesapeake Bay.

The region is one of nine Ready Regions established to support quality early childhood education initiatives in the commonwealth, and includes the Middle Peninsula, Northern Neck, Peninsula and South Hampton Roads.

Families that sign up for this program will receive about four texts per month with short messages about child development resources, local event opportunities, or activity ideas for children. The texts enable families to quickly access information and take needed action.

Families with young children from prenatal to age five years in Ready Region Chesapeake Bay can sign up to receive texts by sending Family to 804-596-5550 or sign up online at www.firstsparkva.org/family-council-texting.
