First Presbyterian offers workshop on personal finance

First Presbyterian Church, Gloucester, will hold an eight-week workshop on personal finance, open to the public, beginning Wednesday, Feb. 15.

Participants completing the course will experience a deeper understanding of the principles behind how to use money biblically, according to spokesperson Gwen D’Amico.

She said the in-depth, informative workshop will teach people easy, systematic methods of getting out of debt, creating a budget, building an emergency fund, becoming debt-free, and proper retirement planning.

Other topics the workshop will address include the importance of wills, living wills, power of attorney, advanced medical directives, 401(k) accounts, IRAs, 529s, different types of insurance, how credit cards work and the principles of Rule of 72, time value of money and dollar-cost averaging.

There is no registration required; all of the materials will be provided free of charge. Classes will continue each week on Wednesdays at 7 p.m. at the church. For more info...
