Firearms repair business to be discussed at BZA hearing

The Gloucester County Board of Zoning Appeals will consider one request for special exception during a public hearing at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the colonial courthouse.

Peter W.T. Maxwell has applied for a special exception to the Gloucester Zoning Ordinance for the establishment of a home occupation business.

Maxwell said in his application he wants to repair and clean firearms at home at 7316 Our Way Lane off Belroi Road in Gloucester.

“I want to specialize in work primarily from internet advertising on the federal and state vendor sites,” he stated in his application.

In performing cleaning and repair of firearms, Maxwell said, “there will be no effects on adjoining property such as noise, odor, fumes, smoke and glare; no large machines will be used.” The application said the home occupation will be “compatible with the neighborhood,” with a lot of wooded buffers.
