Fire destroys Gloucester Court House home

Fire destroyed a home in the Gloucester Court House area Friday morning. The Gloucester Volunteer Fire and Rescue Squad, Inc., responded to a report of a structure fire on Joyners Lane off Roaring Springs Road around 8 o’clock and found heavy fire and smoke coming from the residence upon arrival, said GVFRS Chief J.D. Clements.

According to Clements, a father and his son were living in the home and the son was on his computer in the back part of the house when he heard a loud “pop” toward the front of the residence. Clements said the son went to see where the noise was coming from and opened the door to the atrium and found heavy fire and smoke inside the area.

“It all happened pretty dramatic and pretty quick,” Clements said. Fortunately, he said the son was able to get out of the home and no injuries were reported on the scene. “The house sustained a heavy loss though,” he said, estimating damage to at least 75-80 percent of the structure.&...
