Financial aid deadline approaching

Students planning to enroll in classes this fall at Rappahannock Community College who wish to be considered for financial aid must apply before the March 20 deadline, according to Victor Clough, RCC’s dean of college advancement.

A recent survey showed that many students do not apply because they think they won’t qualify, Clough said. But while some of the available scholarships do depend upon a high grade-point average or extreme financial need, many others are awarded according to field of study, county of residence, high school attended, or other criteria.

Each year, he said, RCC distributes nearly 300 scholarship awards, totaling over $300,000, for both entering and returning students.

Clough reminds anyone planning to attend RCC that students need not worry about which scholarship will best match their situation. Filling out the application just once allows them to be considered for all RCC scholarships.
